Political Studies of the Caucasus - Opportunities for Regional
Cooperation in condintions of Unresolved Conflicts

The main objective of the project is the scientific analysis of the possibilities for the development of regional cooperation in the conditions of a complex system of unresolved multilateral conflicts (Caucasian Crisis).

The main objective of the project is the scientific analysis of the possibilities for the development of regional cooperation in the conditions of a complex system of unresolved multilateral conflicts (Caucasian Crisis). One of the foundations of the research is the “treasure” preserved from the history of the island of Crete - the approach of political syncretism (A. Rusetsky, 2021), according to which, if the parties to the conflict are aware of common dangers, there is a possibility to develop cooperation against a “common enemy”. The authors of the research do not discuss the idea of searching for an “image of a common enemy”, which is quite well represented in today's discourse of “peace policy”, but focus on finding other common threats and building a unified security system. The research will work on establishing a unified computer model of the various configurations of Caucasus regional cooperation (alliances) formats and an analysis of the possible institutional structures of political management of this complex system. There will be studied the meta-diplomatic arsenal of possible non-institutional mechanisms of cooperation, which is of particular interest during periods of diplomatic crisis and provides the opportunity to re-establish the necessary relations through multi-channel informal communications
