The Georgian National Academy of Sciences

Georgian National Academy of Sciences is a unity of persons, who have achieved excellence in a science and scholarship. It is a successor to, and continuer of the ancient seats of Georgian education and spirituality the academies of Gelati and Iqalto. The Academy is a scientific adviser to the government of Georgia.

Institute of Political Sciences

Institute of Political Sciences was established in accordance with the decree of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences on 27 January 2000, by merging of two research institutions of Georgia, namely Scientific Information Center of Social Sciences and National Relations Research Center.

As a result of the reforms taking place in 2006, the Institute of Political Sciences was established as a public law legal entity and was a representative organization under the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia.

In 2010, the Institute of Political Science became part of the Ilia State University.

The Center for Cultural Heritage and Environmental Research

The Center for Cultural Heritage and Environmental Research was established in 2016. Its purpose is to study cultural heritage sites and their anthropomorphic and natural environmental influence using modern technologies to study, diagnose and determine their historical and artistic characteristics.

International School of Caucasus Studies

Ilia Chavchavadze State University, in cooperation with the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, announced creation of the International School of Caucasus Studies (ISCS).

The Institute of Demography and Sociology

The Institute of Demography and Sociology was created within the system of Science Academy of Georgia on March 28, 1991, after the unification of Science Centers for Research of Social and Economic Issues and the Center for Sociological Research. Since July 2009, the Institute has been affiliated with Ilia State University.

The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies

The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies of Ilia State University was established in 2014 on the basis of the Institute for the Study of Modernity. It aims to investigate the social, cultural and political issues pressing for the present and history of Georgia and the Caucasus region. The Institute encourages researchers to engage in bold interdisciplinary work or to cross boundaries between disciplines, which leads to the discovery of new research subjects and the development of new theoretical frameworks.

The Center for Local Governance (CLG)

The Center for Local Governance (CLG) was established within the School of Government in 2002. Shortly thereafter, the CLG developed a professional-level Master’s academic program in local government administration. It is the only program of its kind in Georgia in the Georgian language, emphasizing both review and reform of local government legislation and policies through public administration education and training, capacity development and inclusive systems of consultation with local communities actively involving and engaging women and ethnic minorities.

The Policy Research Center (PRC)

The Policy Research Center (PRC) represents a branch of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), which carries out research in political science. The PRC has the infrastructure needed for scientific research, which includes a unique library in the field of international relations, political science, and political economy.

Caucasus Laboratory of Geopolitical Modelling

Caucasus Laboratory of Geopolitical Modelling of Caucasus International University is a research unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Caucasus Institute of Regional Security.

Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies – USACA

Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies – USACA at Caucasus International University was founded in April, 2017. The founder and head of the Institute is Nana Parinos, Assistant Professor Doctor of American Studies.

Institute for Strategic Studies of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Threats

"Institute for Strategic Studies of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Threats" is an internal structural unit of the Caucasus International University and is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The goals of the institute are: Study and analysis of strategic asymmetric threats - nuclear, chemical, biological and radiological threats

Scientific-Analytical Laboratory for Georgian and Iranian Relations

Scientific-Analytical Laboratory for Georgian and Iranian Relations represents an inner structural unit of Caucasus International University. Its aim is to show the role of Georgia and Iran in solving regional problems, to study the existing political-economic and social-cultural relations between Iran and the countries of Caucasian region. In addition, the laboratory focuses on working out and implementing scientific-research projects on various topics of Georgian and Iranian relations and engaging students in them.

Laboratory for Political Studies

Laboratory for Political Studies represents an inner structural unit of Caucasus International University. Its aim is to ensure the development of political sciences, to conduct scientific-research activities in the field of politics, to study legislative problems and to work out and realize necessary projects for the development of civic society.

The Center for International Studies

The Center for International Studies was founded in 2018. It includes 7 permanent members and 15 volunteers (students). The Center is divided into the following directions: 1. American Studies; 2. Geopolitics and Black Sea Region; 3. EU studies; 4. China Studies.

American Research Institute of the South Caucasus

ARISC is an American Overseas Research Center, an independent not-for-profit, that supports research in and about Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, both in the South Caucasus and the US. A member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), ARISC offers fellowships, programming and research support. ARISC is an Affiliate Organization of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). An idea initiated during a gathering in Chicago one weekend in 2005, ARISC was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in Illinois and secured 501(c)3 status in 2007.

The Caucasus Research Resource Center - Georgia

CRRC-Georgia is a non-governmental, non-profit research organization, which collects, analyzes and publishes policy relevant data on social, economic and political trends in Georgia. CRRC-Georgia, together with CRRC-Armenia and CRRC-Azerbaijan, constitutes a network of research centers with the common goal of strengthening social science research and public policy analysis in the South Caucasus.
